Tibet Overland Budget Tour via Kerung is the most demanding and famous package tour in Tibet. This fixed departure overland tour of Tibet offers a wounderful views of highest pleatue of the universe. This 7 nights / 8 days budget package tour begins from Kathmandu and ends in Kathmandu. This fixed departure tour departs every Tuesday and Saturday from Kathmandu.

We drive 185 kilometers from Kathmadu via Pasang Lhamu Highway with a beautiful views of landscape all the way to Nepal - China Border (Kerung border). It is around 9 hours drive from Kathmandu. Upon reaching Nepal - China border we workout on some immigration formalities to enter Tibet (roof of the world). During this overland tour we passes through a places called Lhatse, Tingri, Xigatse, Gyantse and finally to Lhasa (a capital city of Tibet). This is a drive in and fly out package tour. We enter Tibet via overland and after finishing a tour in Lhasa fly back to Kathmandu.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu (1310m) - Kerung Border(2800m) 185Km. 08 – 09 Hours Drive
Early in the Morning scenic drive to Kerung Border Nepal Tibet Border through the beautiful Nepalese countryside and after necessary border formalities at Nepali immigration and cross the bridge process for all necessary formalities in Chinese immigration continue drive to Kerung Town. Stay Overnight at Guest House.

Day 02: Kerung Town(2800m) - Tengri(4,300m)/ Lhatse(4,350m) 370 Km 05 -06 Hours Drive.
After Breakfast drive uphill to the height plateau of the world with the typical view of Tibetan landscape offering sheer feeling of standing of the roof of the world from where weather permitting, breathtaking panorama of beautiful Himalayan ranges including Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201m) and Mt.Xishapangma (8,012m)but dwarfed by the vastness of the Tibetan plateau. From Tingri one can enfou the magnificence of Mt. Everest (8,848m) Stay Overnight at Guest House.

Day 03: Tengri(4,300m)/ Lhatse(4,350m) – Shigatse(3,900m) 235km/ 265Km 05 -06 Hours Drive.
After Breakfast continue drive scenic crossing over Gyatchu La(5,220m),the highest pass en route to Lhasa via Lhatse from where a road to Mt.Kailash Bifurcates to the west. Stay overnight at Hotel.

Day 04: Drive Xigatse - Gyantse.
In Xigatse, we visit Tashilumpo Monastery, one of the four great Gelug monasteries renowned as the seat of the Panchen Lama until his death in 1989. After visiting Tashilunpo Monastery in the morning including the Bazaar of Xigatse, We drive to the capital of the small kingdom in 15th century. Gyantse. Visit Gyantse Kumbum (the highest Chorten in Tibet) & Pelkor Chode Monastery founded in 1418. Overnight at Gyantse.

Day 05: Drive Gyantse - Lhasa.
Drive to Lhasa, crossing the Karo-la Pass(5045m), we pass by the Yamdrok Tso, the turquoise lake & one of the four holy lakes in Tibet. Then after passing the Kamba-la Pass(4794m), we find ourselves close to theLhasa Valley. After crossing the Brahmaputra River, we reach Lhasa, our final destination. Lhasa lies in the Kyichu river valley at 3,595m and is dominated by the magnificent Potala Palace, built in the 17th century by the Great Fifth Dalai Lama. The accompanied guide will reconfirm your onward airline ticket. Overnight at Lhasa.

Day 06: Guided Sightseeing Tour of Lhasa City.
After having breakfast your lhasa sightseeing begins. You will be visiting: Potala Palace (A great museum with its proportions and priceless treasures), Jokhang Temple (the holiest of Tibetan shrines, houses two images of the Buddha brought as dowry by Songtsen Gampo's Nepali and Chinese queens) along the bustling street of Barkhor Market. Overnight at Lhasa.

Day 07: Guided Sightseeing Tour of Lhasa City.
Today during your Lhasa city sightseeing tour you will be visiting: Norbu Lingka (the summer palace of the Dalai Lamas), Drepung and Sera Monasteries. Overnight at Lhasa.

Day 08 Lhasa Departure.
Transfer Gongkar airport for the onward flight to Kathmandu.
