Everest Base Camp Lhasa

Everest Base Camp and Lhasa Tour consists of two parts. The first parts of the trip will begin from the excursion of Mount Everest Base Camp from Tingri on the friendship Highway; it is relatively easy to access. The walk is not particularly strenuous- only one low pass must be crossed. Near the Base Camp is the reconstructed monastery of Rongbuk, once one of the largest monastic complexes in the region. The view from here of the Everest North face, perhaps is the most dramatic of tall its sides, is unforgettable.The second part of the trip continues with excursion in Lhasa visiting the Potala palace, Jokhang, Sera and Drepung Monasteries. After Lhasa we drive to Tingri via Gyantse, Shigatse and Sakya, visiting all the popular monasteries along the way.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu pickup from airport and transfer to Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02: Free day in Kathmandu as we have to apply for chinese visa. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03: Kathmandu (1,3000m) – Zhangmu (2,500m) Nyalam (3,700m): 123km / 156km.
Early morning scenic drive to KODARI (Nepal - Tibet border)through the beautiful Nepalese country side and after necessary border formalities both at Nepalese and Chinese immigrantion, check in to hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 04: Nyalam to Tingri (4390m) -147 Kms. Overnight in Tingri.
Drive (Approx. 5-6 hours) to Tingri crossing two spectacular passes. Nyalam pass (3800m) and Lalung La pass (5082m). This drive provides fabulous view of the high mountains including, Mount Everest (8848m) Jugal Himal, Mt. Makalu (8464m) and more.

Day 05: Tingri (4390m) to Ronbuk (5100m) - 105 Kms. Overnight in Rongbuk.
After breakfast easy and short drive to Rongbuk. Rongbuk monastery first, it is the highest monastery in Tibet. Enjoy the unique view of Mt. Everest (Mount Quomolangma), you can have a face to face experience of Mt. Everest. Visit: Ronbuk monastery.

Day 06: Ronbuk - Everest Base Camp Excursion (5100m.) & drive to Shigatse. Overnight in Shigatse.
Drive from Ronbuk all the way to Everest Base Camp. Sometimes chinese army restrict the vehicle to go to Everest Base Camp and in such case either trek (2 hours) or take horse cart. The North Face of Mount Everest (8848m.) Or Mount Quomolangma in Tibetan. Explore the Base Camp and The Rongphu glacier and continue drive to Shigatse.

Day 07: Shigatse – Gyantse (3,950m): 90km. Overnight in Gyantse.
Visit Tashilompo monastery and continue drive to Gyantse and visit to the Kumbum stupa & Pholkor Monastery.

Day 08: Gyantse - Lhasa, (3650m)-259kms.Overnight at Lhasa.
Drive to Lhasa takes 08 hours, crossing 2 passes The Karo La (5010m) and Kamba La (4794m) pass and lake Yamdrok Tso(Turquoise Lake). You will cross the Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahamaputra) river and see the distant views of the Potala Palace.

Day 09: Sightseeing of Lhasa, Overnight at Lhasa.
Visit: Potala Palace, Sera Monastery and Norbulinka the Summer Palace.

Day 10: Sightseeing of Lhasa, Overnight at Lhasa.
Visit: Drepung Monastery, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor street.

Day 11: Departure to your onward destination and trip ends.
