The Doleshwor Mahadev (Head Part of the Kedarnath) Doleshwor Mahadev is one of the most famous Holy shrine of Nepal. Amont the twelve Lustrous lingas, located in Uttarkhanda(northern part of India), four religious shrines; Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath have significant importance to hindu devotees since ancient times. The head part of the same Kedarnath Mahadev lies at Sipadol VDC, ward no 6 of Bhaktapur District within Kathmandu Valley in the Pasupat Area. A 5000 years old relic from the Mahabharata era links Doleswor in Nepal with Kedarnath in India.


During Mahavarata period, the Pandavas were travelling to Uttarpantha(northern way) after handling over the state reign to Emperor Parikshita, grandson of Arjun and son of Abhimanyu. During their travel, they wished to pay homage to Kedarnath Mahadev but found out that the Kedarnath had gone to visit jungle disguising as a male buffalo. They went to bow him even in the same form but Kedarnath jee exhibited only the body and hide the head. When the Pandavas tried to see the head part by pulling the tail, the heard and the body got seperated. The body remained as Kedarnath and the Head part flew to Nepal and has remained here in the form of Doleshwor Mahadev. Previously there were only rumours of Head part being in Nepal but the exact place was unknown. Over the period, with varioud researches linking to mahabharat period, it was proved that Doleshwor was the true head part of Kedarnath and this was formally announced on a grand occasion on Bhadra 6, 2066 BS (22nd August 2009) by Jagatguru Bhimashankar linga Shivacharya Mahaswami jee, the recipient of Himawtkedar Vairagya Sinhasanadhiswor Rawal Award.


It is believed that from meaningfulness of life, after worshipping the body part of Kedarnath, one of the Lustrous Lingas, it is very important to worship the revere theDoleshwor Mahadev, the Head part of Kedarnath and then lastly to worship at the holy shrine of Hindus, the Pashupatinath.

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Day 02: Drive Kathmandu - Doleshwor Mahadev - Kathmandu.
Wake up in the morning have breakfast and get ready to drive to Doleshwor Mahadev.Worship Doleshwor Mahadev and drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight at Kathmandu.


Day 03: Departure.
Wake up in the morning have breakfast and get ready for final departure to International airport by 12 noon to your onward destination.
