cancellation and extra baggage fees. Expedition members with a family
are advised to make sure that they will be responsibly provided for in
case of accidents.
Altitude Sickness:
This can become a serious problem. It results through failure of the body
to adapt to high altitude. It can affect anyone regardless of age or fitness.
It usually occurs once you pass 1800 metres above sea level. In general,
you should not ascend more than 300 metres a day after you reach the height
of 3000 to 4000 meres until you have acclimatized. Poor acclimatization
results in headaches, nausea, sleeplessness, irregular breathing and swelling
of fingers and glands. The only way to fight altitude sickness is to descend
as fast as possible. A descent of 1000 metres normally brings about rapid
recovery. We have planned our routes carefully to ensure proper acclimatization.
Cases of mountain sickness are rare on our trips. However, we stress that
anyone who develops a headache at high altitude to consider it as an early
symptom of mountain sickness and inform the trek leader immediately. People
may have headaches for other reasons, but the possibility of mountain
sickness cannot be ignored.

Boots must be comfortable and they must support the ankle. It is essential
to break in new boots well in advance of your trek. They should be hiking,

These can be hired at reasonable cost in Kathmandu but there are no equipment
hire shops in Tibet . A thick pullover is essential for early mornings
and evenings. Track suit is highly recommended. T- Shirts are ideal for
everyday wear at lower altitudes; two or three are enough for one trek.
