| Nepal is famous not only for its mountains and natural beauty but also because of different modes of entertainment including the sporting events. One of such sports which attract tourists to Nepal is golf. Though popular among the upmarket tourists, not many know about its history in Nepal . Golf in began in 1917 with Rana Prime Minister's after returning from Scotland with some golf clubs. Started playing at Gaucharan, where the present Tribuvan International Airport runway is located, Golf of those days was played by Rana Generals. Some golf tournaments were initiated at that time. The Lava cup was started in mid 1920's. Golfing Nepal is like being in an enchanted sanctuary, not a golf course. But unknown to most of the world, there are unpolished gems still relatively untapped in this Shangri-La of Asia – wonderful golf courses to be played and experienced. Currently Nepal is home to five public golf courses: Gokarna Forest Golf Resort Royal Nepal Golf Course in Kathmandu Himalayan Golf Club Fulbari Resort Golf Course in Pokhara Nirvana Country Club in Dharan. Each is unique and enjoyable in separate ways
