The
Dolpo region is the natural embodiment of high passes, rare flora and
fauna, and sweeping vistas, which is enriched by the traditional Tibetan
cultural heritage. This region, surrounded by Dhaulagiri and Tibet from
south and north, respectively, is regarded as a blend of natural and cultural
phenomena. It was opened in 1991 for trekking. This region lies on the
north side of Himalayas , it is also a rain shadow area and the climatic
situation of this place is same as that of Mustang. One of the longest
treks in Nepal is Dolpo Trek that takes 34 days to complete. In this trek,
the maximum elevation will be 4,530 m. to 5,115 m. and is one of the most
arduous treks of the country.
LOWER DOLPA TREK (JUMLA TO DOLPA):
Trek Days: 8 to 14 Days

Trek in Brief:
Dolpa is a remote region most of which is protected by Sey-Phoksundo National
Park . It is bounded in the east and south by the Dhaulagiri and Churen
Himal ranges and west by the Jumla district. The headquarter of Dolpa
is Dunai.
The trek start from Jumla (2370m) where will fly from Nepalgunj. Trek
to Gothi chaur (2600m), Naphukana (3000m), Balasa (2850), Rimi (2890m),
Tibrikot (2100), Dunai (2000m) and Juphal (2490). The trek ends at Juphal,
from where we can take domestic flight to Nepalgung and back to Kathmandu
.
If we want to pass Kagmara La Pass (5115m), it will take extra four days.
The trek will Rimi (2890m), Kaigaon-Toijem (2920m), Kagmara Phedi (3650m),
Kagmara La (5115m), Lasa, Sumduwa etc.
RARA LAKE TREK (JUMLA TO RARA):
Trek Days: 8 to 11 Days
Domestic flight: Both ways.
Trek Type: Camping
Max. Altitude: 3710m
Hotels: None
Season: March to October.
Trek in Brief:
Rara Lake (2980m) is the focal point of Rara National Park and is a good
destination for a trek in western Nepal . The route is very much ‘of the
beaten trek' and affords glimpses of cultures and scenery very different
from those in the rest of Nepal .
The trek begins from Jumla – Danphe Lagna (3130m) - Cautha (2770m) – Dhotu
(2500m) – Rara Lake (3060m) -Ghorosingha (3100m) – Sinja (2440m) – Jaljala
chaur (3270m) – Jumla.
LOWER DOLPA TREK (JUMLA TO DOLPA):
Trek Days: 12 to 16 Days

Trek in Brief:
The Tarap is a remote valley of pure Tibeten influence east of Sey-Phoksundo
Lake and south of Sey Gompa. The trek will start from Dunai and ends at
Juphal. Dunai-Tarakot (2520m), Kanigaon (2500m), Chheur (3570m), Sishul
Khola (3770m), Do Tarap (4150m), Tok-Khyu Highcamp (4180m), Pellung Tang
(4460m), Dajok Tang (4080m), Phoksundo Lake (3728m), Trek down to Juphal
and fly to Nepalgunj.
UPPER DOLPA (SHEY GOMPA TREK):
Trek Days: 10-15 days
Domestic Flight: Both ways
Trek Type: camping
Maximum altitude: 5400m
Difficulty: Normal to hard
Season: May to October
Trek in Brief:
The lake is within Shey Phoksundo National Park , which was opened in
1981. The park holds in wildlife inhabitants of Snow leopards, blue sheep
etc. This land is near by Tibet so the experience of Tibetan land and
Tibetan culture can easily be experienced through this trek. The famous
Mount Kailash can be seen on the far direction which is in western Tibet
.
The trek start from Jufal and ends at Jufal (Dunai).
Jufal –Dunai—Chepka—Renje (3010m)— Phoksundo Lake —Phoksundo Khola—Snow
fields camp—Shey Gompa (4500m). The trek have different destination depends
upon days.
